Detailed Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in the Valleys of Manali Leave behind the monotonous city life and step into the serene embrace of Manali.

  • Experience: Arrive in Manali, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, dense pine forests, and lush green terrain.

  • Afternoon: Enjoy a warm lunch, followed by a scenic sightseeing drive around the local valleys.

  • Overnight: Rest and acclimatize at your hotel in Manali.

Day 2: The Ascent to Jispa

  • Experience: After breakfast, commence an auspicious 5-hour journey across the famous Rohtang La pass towards Jispa. We will travel through Khoksar, Sissu, Tandi, and Keylong.

  • Sightseeing: Explore the spiritual Gemur and Kardung Monasteries, and take in the beauty of Suraj Tal Lake.

  • Overnight: Stay in Jispa.

Day 3: Exploring Tso Kar, The “White Lake”

  • Experience: A 6-hour drive brings us to Tso Kar, the magnificent “White Lake” of Ladakh.

  • Wildlife: This endless sea of mountains is a paradise for bird watchers. Spot Brahmani Ducks, Black-Necked Cranes, Bar-Headed Geese, and wild Kiangs in the Changtang region.

  • Overnight: Stay in Tso Kar.

Day 4: Journey to Tso Moriri

  • Experience: Travel via the Polokongka Pass (approx. 3 hours) to Tso Moriri, a hidden triangle of vibrant blue amidst snow-capped peaks.

  • Sightseeing: Famous for the Rupshu Valley and Taglang La Pass, keep an eye out for marmots, wild asses, Tibetan wolves, and migratory birds floating on the lake.

  • Overnight: Stay at Tso Moriri.

Day 5: Conquering Umling La & Arrival in Hanle

  • Experience: An early departure to conquer Umling La—the highest motorable road in the world. Standing at the top offers panoramic views and a deeply spiritual, once-in-a-lifetime milestone.

  • Evening: Descend to the calm, soulful village of Hanle.

  • Overnight: Homestay or similar in Hanle.

Day 6: The Wonders of Hanle

  • Experience: Spend the day exploring Hanle in the Changthang region.

  • Sightseeing: Visit the 17th-century Hanle Monastery (home to about 60 monks of the Drukpa lineage) for breathtaking aerial views of the village. We will also visit the Indian Astronomical Observatory, the highest in the world at 4,500 meters.

  • Overnight: Homestay or similar in Hanle.

Day 7: The Colors of Pangong Lake

  • Experience: Drive via the Sagala Pass, Loma, Nyoma, Chushul, Man, Merak, and Spangmik to the legendary Pangong Lake.

  • Evening: Witness a spectacular sunset where the sky and water shift from golden to pink and red as migratory birds dive into the lake.

  • Overnight: Stay beside Pangong Lake.

Day 8: Nubra Valley & The Last Village (Turtuk/Thang)

  • Experience: After a breathtaking Pangong sunrise, journey over Khardung La into the Nubra Valley.

  • Sightseeing: Visit the Diskit Monastery, then travel to the hidden hamlet of Turtuk and “Thang,” the last northern village of India near the Pakistan border, offering stunning views of the Shyok River valley.

  • Overnight: Stay at Tyakshi.

Day 9: The Sands of Hunder

  • Experience: Travel to Hunder, often called the “Kazakhstan of India”.

  • Activity: Enjoy an included safari on the famous two-humped Bactrian camels.

  • Overnight: Cottage or similar in Hunder.

Day 10: Hot Springs or Siachen Base Camp

  • Experience: Spend a leisurely day exploring local villages, the summer sand dunes, hot springs, and Ista Monastery.

Day 11: Return to Leh

Day 12: Leh City Heritage Tour

  • Experience: A full day exploring the rich heritage of Leh.

Day 13: The Confluence & Saspol

  • Experience: Depart Leh for a fascinating drive visiting the Hall of Fame, Magnetic Hill, and Nimmu. Witness the Sangam (the striking confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers).
